The Honorable Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General (Retired) Shri Gurmit Singh, visited Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati on 26 May 2023.
Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Swamis and members of the ashrama. The governor expressed gratitude for the invitation and conveyed appreciation for the institution’s longstanding commitment to promoting spiritual growth and social welfare.
During the visit, the Hon’ble Governor had the opportunity to interact with the Swamis and learn about the rich heritage and philosophy of Advaita Vedanta. He also took a tour of the ashrama premises, walked through the Vivekananda exhibition hall, savoring the diverse displays. His enthusiastic engagement with the exhibits symbolized his profound appreciation for the timeless wisdom and indomitable spirit that Swami Vivekananda embodied. Furthermore, he appreciated the ashrama’s efforts in community service, such as providing free healthcare facilities, distributing food & blankets to the underprivileged, and conducting social upliftment programs.
The Hon’ble Governor encouraged individuals from all walks of life to embark on a pilgrimage to this sacred abode, urging them to embrace the profound teachings and bask in the divine presence that permeates the ashrama and its surroundings.
