Advaita Ashrama, Kolkata has been maintaining a public library and a reading room with 13,997 books and 36 newspapers and periodicals.

CURRENT COLLECTIONS AND CONTENT OFFERINGS
Books:
The General Library houses 13,997 books.

Rare Books:
The library has a wide collection rare books which may be used for reference.

Journals:
The library subscribes to more than 30 national and international print journals and 5 newspapers for the benefit of the readers.

FACILITIES AND SERVICES
MEMBERSHIP: Membership of the Ashrama is open to all, who are in sympathy with its aim and activities. Life membership is offered; regular members are required to pay annually in addition to an admission fee.
The Advaita Ashrama reserves the right to refuse membership to any person without providing any reason.

The members are allowed to use the Ashrama’s Library and Reading Room subject to Library rules.

INFORMATION SERVICES: The information desk at the library addresses bibliographic information needs of users promptly. The desk also orients new users to the various facilities offered by the library.

Book Search: The library provides search options : traditional printed card-index system (Card Catalogue). The information desk provides all necessary support in case of any difficulty in finding correct source information.

READING ROOM: There is one large reading room. The room can house over 40 general readers. The members can access reference books and periodicals in the reading room of General Library.

LENDING FACILITY: The members may borrow up to three books from the General library in accordance with library rules. They may renew books once over the telephone or in person for an additional period of 14 days. They may also reserve one book for home-issue and two for reading room use.
