Advaita Mysticism

Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati is celebrating its 125 years of glorious existence. This Ashrama, in its significance, transcends the physical barrier and leaps into the transcendental realm of the oneness of existence and the Divinity of the human being — the two cardinal principles of Advaita philosophy. It is not just an Ashrama with buildings of bricks and mortar; it is the personification of the Advaita way of living, a dream of Swami Vivekananda that has come true.

Prabuddha Bharata, which is published from the Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati for nearly 125 years, celebrates the Ashrama’s 125 years of glorious existence by bringing out a special issue on Advaita Mysticism. This is an important theme that has a close relationship with this Ashrama because what makes Mayavati Advaita Ashrama unique and distinct from other centres of the Ramakrishna Order is its complete commitment to the Advaita ideal that has become the living force of every monastic member of this Ashrama.

Moreover, this Ashrama which is surrounded by high Himalayan mountain peaks and evergreen forests reminds one of the Tapovana of the Upanishadic ages and continues to be a perennial inspiration for all serious-minded students of Vedanta and spiritual aspirants, who long to rise to the state of oneness with the whole existence, the cherished goal of Advaita. More than 30 reputed scholars, thinkers, and spiritual personalities including distinguished monks of the Ramakrishna Order, have contributed enlightening articles to this special issue. This volume will be a great treasure house of knowledge and inspiration to all, especially sincere spiritual seekers. Hence, we invite all our readers to order extra copies and distribute them among their dear ones and friends.
