Prabuddha Bharata, or Awakened India, is a spiritual and cultural English monthly of the Ramakrishna Order. It was founded in 1896 at the behest of Swami Vivekananda. The journal’s editorial office has been operating from Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati, uninterruptedly since March 1899 till present. The work of soliciting and selecting articles, editing and verifying the information presented, composing and designing the journal is all done at Mayavati by monks.
Besides, as Advaita Ashrama is a publication house of the Ramakrishna Mission, during the first three decades of the twentieth century a number of most prestigious volumes have been edited, produced, and printed from Mayavati. Though later the publication department was shifted to Kolkata, some book editorial work also takes place at Mayavati.Donale Now
